Location and Climate
The 4th APACE Conference will be held in the Epochal Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba City, Japan. Tsukuba City is situated about 50 km north-east of Tokyo, and is a center of advanced research and technology in Japan. Epochal Tsukuba is located about 1 km south of the Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal and Tsukuba Express Train Station (Tsukuba Center Building).
In early September, maximum daily temperature is often above 30 oC with a minimum 20-25 oC.
A valid passport is required for entry into Japan. Delegates from some countries will also need a visa. Detailed information is available through the Web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Invitation letters for visa application will be provided by the organizers. Delegates who need invitation letters should contact the Local Organizing Committee by email (hhonda@sakura.cc.tsukuba.ac.jp) providing full name, nationality, affiliation, current address, place and date of birth. To identify a delegate's activity in the chemical ecology field, an applicant is kindly requested to send the number for abstract (which bears his/her name) submission allotted by the APACE 2007 Tsukuba organizer, and a short list of recent publications.
BankingOnly Japanese Yens are accepted at regular stores and restaurants. Some foreign currencies may be accepted by a limited number of hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. Major Foreign currencies can be converted into Japanese Yen as you arrive at the Narita Airport. Currency exchange counters are located on the first floor of the airport's arrival lobby.
Currency exchange for Australian dollar, British pound, Canadian dollar, Euro, and US dollar to Japanese Yen can also be made in the central area of Tsukuba City at the following location: Joyo Bank (The first floor of Tsukuba Center Building; money exchange 2nd floor)

Traveler's checks are not as popular in Japan as in other countries and are only acceptable by banks and major hotels. Master, Diners, Visa and American Express credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, department stores, shops and restaurants.
LunchLunch boxes will be served on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Several restaurants are located within walking distance from the conference venue - a map showing the restaurants will be distributed.

Tipping
In Japan, tips are not necessary, even at hotels and restaurants.
